one-day-trip to Genting Casino ManageMent Trainee Assessment Centre~~

phew~~ this is the 2nd time i blog at home.. haha... sounds.... nth

today i went to Genting Resort Hotel for their casino management trainee assessment centre... i was very nervous b4 i went because i was informed that there were individual presentation, written test, group exercise and also case study... haha.. i feel stressful when i knew about it... coz.. y a simple interview can become so complicated??????!!!!!! XO

yesterday (tues) i went to the bus station to get the ticket to go up thr, but sadly and unfortunately, the earliest bus tickets are sold out.. so, i need to find an alternative or absent the assessment (which i'd prefer to do so ^^)... but, my dad was so willing to send me thr... (><) then early this morning i was all readied and went with a neutral and partial happy mood... haha.. i actually dun think that i will accept the offer even if i get it, i just wanna gain experience in assessments... haha... too bad...

my dad sent me to the cable car station n i went up with the cable car.. and when i thought i wanna get the ticket for return bus, the counter was not opened yet... hmm.... the weather was chilling.. just nice... i went to the venue, registered, and they numbered me 12... then breakfast was prepared... but i was not in the mood to eat anything... so.... haha... then i was called for a colour test... which we used to have when we need to take a driving license... funny eh... and also some hand exercise (open and close our palms hard for 20times) to see if our palms sweat... haha..

breakfast table..

the hall we used for the assessment.. Dang Anum..

the decorations around the hall...

the function hall next to ours...

then waited for so long, we were brought into the function hall to start off the day's programme... there were 17 of us... the MC introduced the whole management training programme and group us in pair which we will learn about our partner and introduce her/him to others.... and vise versa... fun...

we were then separated into 2 groups.. one will prepare for individual presentation, the other will sit for written test... and i was in the group that go for the written test 1st.. hmm... the test was... not that theoretical.. the 1st Q was a scenario for me to solve... 2nd was a statement on the Generation Y that required my opinion on it... (do u have ???? in ur mind now thinking wat is Generation Y?? it points to the babies born in 1982-1995, it says that they (we) are confident, comfortably self-reliant, achievement-oriented and bla bla bla....) wat do u think about Gen-Y then?? the 3rd Q was to ask us to prepare a proposal for an event... (>.<) time not enough to finish all 3 Qs!!!!

then come to individual presentation.. they let use choose among some products' leaflets.. there were sony cam, shoe, wendy's burger, maybankard zing, bla bla bla... and i chose the expresSoup in bread... which is located in Times Square...

in fact, when u trying to eat this bread with soup or drink this soup in bread, u will start to hesitate whether to drink the soup 1st or to eat the bread 1st... ^^

back to the assessment, the HR ppl told me not to focus so much on the product but to introduce myself more... i had 5 minutes for the whole presentation but i think i din even use up half of it... and, i was given mahjong paper but i din use any of it nor other visual aids... (>.<) simply bcoz i din know how to draw this soup in bread out nicely.... hmm.... and i even fought with one of the judge on the visual aid thingy... lol

after spending so much time on waiting, finally we were brought to the cafe for lunch n we had buffet style lunch over there... haha... sounds great but the food ain't nice thr... it's either too salty or too sweet... *aiks*

after one hour of lunch, we went back to the function hall for the next activity... and it's the group exercise... we were separated into 2 groups and sit on a round table... then we were provided a lot of jenga blocks and strings.. we were required to tie our right hand to the left hand of the person on our right and our left hand to the right hand of the person on our left... and we were only allowed to use our right hand to move the blocks to build a 'G' alphabet domino... haha... with so many blocks, a big G was formed... it was so funny that whenever we move our right hand, our fren's left hand will move together and we need to move our left hand followed our fren's right hand but not allow to touch the block... it's so many hand on the table but oni half of it is workable... we were given 15minutes but my group oni used up 8minutes... haha.. a fast 1... but, when the judge tried to test on it, it failed... left a few blocks were not down... phew~~ but the other group din make it as well.. almost the same result as ours...

next was case study... the case study sounds like this, if GENM has an extra land, we, as advisor, would choose to use the land with hotel building or theme park expansion... haha... what do u think?? my group chose theme park expansion... seriously quite run out of points.. but, it is obvious that genting is crowded with hotels already... when come to present our answer, we realise that all the groups has the same answer... the judges asked Q like, what is the ROI on the proj compared to hotel building, genting is hitting 100% occupancy during super peak seasons, theme park's profit margin can easily been affected by the weather etc.. haha... they think quite a lot compared to us... due to the same answer for all the groups, so nothing to debate.. haha.. plus my group was the last to present, so not many Q to answer oso... hoho...

then tea time... (>.<) makan again... we thought after tea then we can go back or just attend a short briefing session and done... but, when we went in the hall, there's another test.. this time is a mathematic test without using calculator... aih... ady headache... somemore need to calculate... luckily it was a simple test... 10minutes time laps.. after that, all already half dead, there was stil another EQ test... i couldn't stand it and just simply mark my answer on the Q sheet...

last but not least, it was a Q & A session for use as management trainee candidates.. from the session, i know that, as MT, i will be paid RM2k per month, RM980 food allowance per month, free laundry for uniforms, twin sharing basis for accommodation, 8 working hours per day, 4 days off per month, 15 days annual leave, 14 days public holidays, and 2 years of compulsory servicing contract (meaning need to work with genting at least 2 yrs after i finish the training, break the contract and pay for it... also meaning a total of minimum 3 yrs working with GENM..) will u accept this offer if u get it??? @.@

aih.. tired liao lor... after exchange contact with others, me and another girl from hentian kajang went down together with cable car... she managed to get a bus ticket to hentian kajang at 6.30pm but me, the earliest ticket to terminal gombak was 7.30pm and it was 6pm at that time... aiks... i'd better call up my dad to pick me up lor... luckily my dad din take long to reach.. he reach around 6.45pm and i reached home around 7.30pm!!!! ^^

there goes my GENM assessment day!! and was exhausted!!! back at home... i gt no appetite at all... maybe too much food for the day... >.O
